I’ve come to the conclusion that editing a novel or a proposal is much like trying to get every hair in place when you’re getting your photograph taken. It’s not going to happen. It will never look as perfect as you want it to. But at some point, you must strike a pose, let the picture be snapped, and be satisfied that it’s good enough.
After all, there are no guarantees that once you’re looking as perfect as you’d like that something won’t come along and change everything anyway. Like a tree branch that whacks you in the back of the head–or an editor, haha!
