Shannon Taylor Vannatter joins us today for an interview and giveaway of her latest book, Rodeo Regrets. She is a stay-at-home mom and pastor’s wife. Her debut novel won the 2011 Inspirational Readers’ Choice Award.
Shannon has offered to give away two copies of her book. So make sure and leave a comment below with your email address, so I can contact you if you win. We have to have at least ten comments to make a contest. Continental US only, please.
When not writing, Shannon runs circles in the care and feeding of her husband, their son, and church congregation. Home is a central Arkansas zoo with two charcoal gray cats, a chocolate lab, and three dachshunds in weenie dog heaven. If given the chance to clean house or write, she’d rather write. Her goal is to hire Alice from the Brady Bunch.
Shannon, besides writing and taking care of your family and church friends, what are you passionate about?
I love to sew home interior items. Not clothes. Clothes frustrate me. If you make a pucker it shows. With curtains, or a bed ruffle it doesn’t matter. Comforters are a little more complicated, but I love taking my son to the store and letting him pick fabric to redo his room.
I enjoy sewing curtains but definitely NOT clothing. I have never been more frustrated than when I’ve tried to make clothes. When you get down to business, what is your favorite research or reference book or tool?
The internet. I can’t imagine doing research without it.
I totally agree! Where is the coziest spot in your home?
My office nook. My desk is white with a hutch and all kinds of little cubbies to stick stuff. I have white a wicker loveseat and two chairs and bookshelves with all of my favorite books. There are seashells everywhere and sentimental items that inspire me.
This sounds quite lovely. What is your favorite season and why?
Fall. It’s cooler. And I live in rural Arkansas. In the fall, we don’t have to worry about ticks or snakes.
What is your favorite time of the day?
Evening. After supper and after dark in the summer, when we don’t have to worry about homework or getting up for school. My husband, son and I are all settled in and we usually watch a movie together. Even if we’ve seen the movie a thousand times.
If you could pick a theme song to play every time you entered a room, what would it be?
The Mighty Mouse theme. Here I am to save the day. I just think that would be funny.
Now that is funny! Which amusement park ride is your favorite and why?
Roller coasters. I grew up five miles from Six Flags over Georgia. I had older cousins, so I got to spend my summers there. It was awesome!
I grew up about fifteen minutes from Six Flags and still love to go there! Roller coasters are my favorite rides, too. When you were a child, what did you dream of growing up to be?
One of those girls at Six Flags who rolls around on roller skates sweeping the park.
If you were given $10,000 to give away, how would you spend it?
A “no kill” animal shelter.
YES!!!!! What’s your favorite family tradition?
In the spring and fall, we play putt putt. It’s fun for all of us. But my husband always beats us.
NATALIE WENTWORTH’S PAST IS ABOUT TO CATCH UP WITH HER
Natalie once dreamed of finding true love. Then Lane Gray broke her heart. After running wild to fill the emptiness inside her, she heads back to her hometown to heal. But when she sees the cowboy she once loved so much, she finds him hard to resist.
Lane Gray is a changed man. The handsome cowboy wants Natalie’s forgiveness-and more. Natalie has made plenty of mistakes in her life, but so has Lane. Could falling for each other again be the worst one yet? Or the path to redemption?
This sounds quite intriguing! Now for one last question: If you could ask God one question, what would it be?
The age old question – where did you come from? It doesn’t matter. But I’m still curious.
Shannon, thanks so much for joining us today.
